Nexus Sea is a Senior Associate at the New York office of BakerHostetler. He focuses on complex commercial litigation, product liability, and tort litigation. Guided by his clients’ business goals and long term needs, Nexus uses creative approaches to tailor his efforts in each case and to obtain the best results possible. Nexus joined BakerHostetler in 2013 and currently assists in the recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars in assets for former Madoff customers as a member of BakerHostetler’s court-appointed counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. Nexus works on the SIPA Trustee’s litigations against feeder funds and other related entities.
Before joining BakerHostetler, Nexus was an Associate at Day Pitney LLP for six years, and focused primarily on complex commercial litigation and product liability law, managing pharmaceutical defense and asbestos matters. Significantly, he participated in: (1) the defense of a multinational food and beverage company in a breach of contract action involving a multi-million dollar procurement agreement; (2) successfully obtained a temporary restraining order against a major flat screen television manufacturer before the U.S. District Court of New Jersey to cease the termination of a hotel television distribution agreement; and (3) obtained summary judgment during his defense of a major pharmaceutical company and its anti-platelet aggregation product in a wrongful death suit alleging failure-to-warn.
Nexus received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, where he served as President of the Rutgers Law School Student Bar Association; Editor-in-Chief of the Rutgers Race & The Law Review; and as a judicial extern for the Honorable Ronald J. Hedges and Joseph A. Greenaway Jr. in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Nexus currently serves on the Executive Council for the New York Network of Bar Leaders; as President of the Nigerian Lawyers Association; and is a founding member of “1844” – an association of African American NY Law Firm Associates founded in 2014.
